7220 Smoking on Campus

Smoking is prohibited in all College-owned buildings, College-owned or leased vehicles, recreational facilities, and athletic facilities. Smoking means inhaling, exhaling, burning, or carrying of any lighted or heated tobacco product, as well as smoking substances that are not tobacco, and smoking instruments. It includes, but is not limited to the use of cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars, pipes, or other instruments that mix water and a product to create smoke or vapor in these prohibited areas (this policy is not intended to prohibit the use of humidifiers for personal health purposes). Employees who do smoke may do so outside of College buildings although smoking is prohibited within 25 feet of College facilities’ doorways, windows, breezeways, air intakes, and vents. Littering campus with remains of tobacco or smoking-related products also is prohibited. All smoking breaks follow the same rules as regular breaks. (For Staff, see policy 5260 “Work Schedules.”)
